Lead Carpenter Role and Responsibilities
Position Title: Lead Carpenter
Location: North Epping, NSW
Department: Construction
Reports To: Project Manager / Owner
Role Overview: The Lead Carpenter at James and Co Residential Builders is responsible for overseeing carpentry projects from start to finish, ensuring high-quality workmanship and efficient project completion. This role involves leading a team of carpenters and apprentices, coordinating with other trades, and ensuring compliance with all safety and building standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:
Oversee and manage carpentry projects from planning through to completion.
Ensure all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Team Leadership:
Lead, mentor, and train a team of carpenters and apprentices.
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring efficient workflow.
Quality Control:
Maintain high standards of workmanship and ensure all work complies with building codes and regulations.
Conduct regular inspections of work to ensure quality and address any issues promptly.
Client Interaction:
Communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide updates on project progress.
Ensure client satisfaction by addressing any concerns and making necessary adjustments.
Safety Compliance:
Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
Conduct safety meetings and training sessions for team members.
Material Management:
Order and manage materials and tools needed for projects.
Ensure materials are used efficiently and waste is minimized.
Collaboration:
Coordinate with other trades and subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution.
Work closely with the Project Manager/Owner to align project goals and expectations.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of project progress, material usage, and team hours.
Prepare and submit regular reports to the Project Manager/Owner.
Professional Development:
Continuously improve carpentry skills and industry knowledge through training and professional development opportunities.
Stay updated on the latest construction techniques, tools, and best practices.

Qualifications and Skills:
Proven experience as a lead carpenter or similar role in the construction industry.
Strong understanding of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in using construction management software and tools.
